Welcome to the second module for VITAL: Relational Health.
This module describes the biology of relational health, including how relational health promotes life-long health and wellness, and how social relationships “get under our skin”. This module outlines how social influence, services, information, and psychological states are all pathways for relational health, and explores how supportive relationships can bolster healthy nervous, endocrine, and immune systems.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this module participants will be able to:
1. Describe the importance of relational health across the lifespan.
2. Explain at least two mechanistic pathways by which relational health can improve health outcomes.
3. Describe how relational health impacts cardiovascular disease outcomes, neuroendocrine and immune functioning, and mortality.
